W00 W00 Feb 21, 2001; the remainder of the principal on the vessel loan was paid today. I now own scirocco outright! Manuals Photocopied old rotting manuals, put in new binders. all on board. Spinnaker Opened it up, it's an asymetrical cruising spinny. needs a sock though. Documented! After eight months of nagging the USCG documentation papers finally came through. Fixed 'car radio' Re-wired it up. GG, the wiring in this boat is bad, probably should all be re-done. Fix all transmission leaks tore apart valve body on top of trans and replaced leaking O-rings and resealed with gasket goop. Replaced output shaft seal. Seems to hold oil better than it's previous spagetti-strainer behavior. Fix broken autopilot. Water intrusion corroded out some diodes, re-soldered. Also replaced large voltage regulator transistor which burnt out. Still needs work or operator training, as it overheated and stopped steering untill cooled down on a recent passage. Rip out pilot berth shelves The best sea-berth on the boat had shelves and a TV screwed into it. A screwdriver and a hammer made short work of the shelves. Fix ripped Jib Second time! a small rip probably from the first incident ripped the jib as soon as we got it back from the sailmaker. Thats fixed and hopefully there will be no more sail drama. Howto! Fixing a parted leachline. On our 150% jib the leach line had parted at the head of the sail and through previous owner(s) had been pulled nearly midway down the sail. Trial and error found the ideal way to put a leach line through its pocket with the minimum resewn stitches. The way I did it was by cutting out 2-3 stitches at the highest point that the leach line was and retrieved the leach line from there. I then straightened out a coat hangar and put a loop to one end which the end of the leach line was tied to. The hangar was inserted where the leach line was extracted. The leach line pocket was scrunched up onto the front of the coat hangar untill as much was scrunched on as possible, then was unscrunched at the back of the coat hangar to move the coathangar up the sail. The process was repeated untill the hangar and attached line hat reached the head of the sail; The stiches are the head were broken to pull the hanger and remaining leach line through the sail. Stitches are only broken at two points... One point if the line is started at the foot of the sail.
