The Linux Directory Services project (LDS) is proud to announce newly available packages and source code. The LDS seeks to create LDAP based nameservice software similar in operation to NIS, but with the advanced features of modern directories. RPM packages for openldap (LDAP libraries, servers, and clients), LDAPNS (LDAP Nameservice libraries and configuration scripts), and the Ldap Nameservice HOWTO are now available for download. The LDS website is at http://www.rage.net/ldap/, and all files are available at ftp://ftp.rage.net/pub/LDAP/. See http://www.rage.net/ldap/announce.txt for the full announcement. Installation Instructions: Download and install the following RPMS (in order) openldap-1.1-0.i386.rpm: LDAP Libraries and basic clients openldap-devel-1.1-0.i386.rpm: LDAP Development libraries (optional) openldap-servers-1.1-0.i386.rpm: LDAP Servers passwd-0.50-12.i386.rpm: Fixes a bug with pam interaction ldapns-0.1-1.i386.rpm: LDAP nss/pam libraries and scripts On your master LDAP server, run 'ldapinit -m' to initialize the LDAP server, then 'ldapmigrate' to populate your database with nameservice information. On each client node run 'ldapinit -c ldaphost' on each client (substituting 'ldaphost' with your LDAP server hostname). To configure replicas, run 'ldaphost -s' on the slave server, and 'ldaphost -r' on the master. BUGS Currently pam_ldap does not authenticate when chasing refferals (neither do any of the ldap* command line tools). This is being worked on and will be fixed by the next release.
